Community Mental Health: Cultivating Hope with Rural Families in Remedios, Antioquia
A Workshop That Transforms Emotions into Collective Strength
In Santa Isabel, a rural village in Remedios, Antioquia, 27 parents and caregivers from the educational program at Centro ADN (an initiative of Fundación Quintana, the Colombian subsidiary of the Sodhi Foundation) participated in the “Harvesting Hope” workshop. This event served as a psychosocial support experience, aimed at transforming emotions such as sadness and discouragement into resilience, collective care, and active hope.
Emotional Education as a Path to Healing and Community Building
The workshop was grounded in the agricultural metaphor of sowing, deeply embedded in rural life. Participants were encouraged to reflect on the idea that even in the most challenging conditions, it is still possible to cultivate hope, strength, and solidarity.
Through open dialogue, emotional expression, and mutual support, a safe environment was created in which rural caregivers could share experiences, feel supported, and reconnect with their inner strength. These gatherings reinforce not only community mental health but also trust and collaboration within families and educational processes.
A Commitment to Active Hope and Holistic Well-being
The “Harvesting Hope” workshop exemplifies the Sodhi Foundation’s commitment to the holistic development of rural communities. In these contexts, education means more than academics—it also means healing, nurturing, and fostering emotional support networks. Through Centro ADN, we promote emotional education as a cornerstone for a more empathetic, healthy, and resilient society.
