Our programmes
We have a presence in the nordeste antioqueño region of Colombia — including the municipalities of Remedios, Segovia, and Yalí — and in rural communities in India.
Mental Health Research
We fund peer-reviewed research into psychedelic-assisted therapies for PTSD and depression, in collaboration with Yale School of Medicine.
Early Childhood Education
We bring quality early childhood education to rural communities in Colombia and India, giving every child the tools to reach their full potential.
Economic Empowerment
We support vocational training programmes and sustainable livelihoods for women and youth in marginalised communities in Colombia and India.
In Colombia, the foundation has implemented several impactful programs.
One significant project is the beekeeping training program. This program provides comprehensive training in beekeeping techniques, enabling participants to start their own beekeeping businesses. The project in Remedios has been particularly successful, with participants producing high-quality honey, creating a new source of income, and fostering entrepreneurship in the community.
Another major initiative in Colombia is the creative industries program, which includes candle-making workshops in Segovia. These workshops teach participants the art of candle making, providing them with the skills to start their own businesses. The final workshop of 2023 was a resounding success, highlighting the community’s enthusiasm and the potential for sustainable income generation through artisanal crafts.
Additionally, the reforestation project in Segovia promotes environmental sustainability and provides economic opportunities for the local community. By involving residents in tree planting and maintenance, the foundation creates jobs and supports the development of green businesses. This initiative is part of a broader effort to integrate environmental conservation with economic development, ensuring that community members benefit from sustainable practices.
In India, the Sodhi Foundation’s economic empowerment efforts are equally diverse and impactful.
The Silai Skill Centre initiative is a standout program that empowers women by teaching them sewing and tailoring skills. These skills enable women to become self-sufficient, earn a stable income, and contribute significantly to their families and communities. The initiative not only provides vocational training but also supports women in setting up their own tailoring businesses, promoting entrepreneurship and economic independence.
The sustainable agriculture initiative is another crucial program in India. This initiative educates farmers on sustainable farming practices, helping them improve crop yields and maintain soil health. By adopting these practices, farmers can increase their income and ensure long-term agricultural sustainability.
