About Us

Our History

The Sodhi Foundation was established in 2014 by Vikram Sodhi. Over the past decade, the Foundation has developed programs in Colombia and India across three areas: mental health research, early childhood education, and economic empowerment.
In mental health, the Foundation’s work gained international recognition with the endowment of the inaugural Vikram Sodhi ’92 Professorship of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. In 2026, Vikram Sodhi extended the Foundation’s commitment to innovation with the inauguration of the Vikram Sodhi Centre of Excellence for AI-Enabled Geological & Mining Systems at IIT Kharagpur, India.
In Colombia, the Foundation operates through its subsidiary Fundación Quintana, which runs community programs in the northeast of Antioquia.

Our Mission

The Sodhi Foundation supports scientific research into new treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders, and funds educational and economic programs in underserved communities in Colombia and India.

In mental health, the Foundation funds peer-reviewed research into the therapeutic potential of psychedelic compounds for conditions such as PTSD and depression, in collaboration with leading academic institutions, including Yale School of Medicine.

In education, the Foundation supports early childhood programs in rural communities in Colombia and India, with the goal of reducing educational disparities and giving children the foundational skills they need to thrive.

In economic empowerment, the Foundation funds vocational training and sustainable livelihood programs for women and young people in underserved areas.

Our mission is holistic, targeting both mental health and education, as we understand that well-being and knowledge are interconnected. We support comprehensive approaches that consider the individual’s mental, emotional, and educational needs, ensuring a brighter and more equitable future for all.

Our Vision

We aspire to a world where research-based treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders are accessible to all who need them — and where every child, regardless of origin or socioeconomic circumstance, has access to a quality education that allows them to reach their full potential.

We believe that mental health and education are the foundation of human development. That is why we work to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, advance scientifically validated treatments, and ensure that no child’s future is limited by the circumstances of their birth.

Our vision is one of healthier, better-educated, and more resilient communities — in Colombia, in India, and beyond.

Our Values

Transparency

We prioritize clear, accurate, timely, honest, and complete communication about our decisions and activities that impact society, the economy, and the environment. This commitment to transparency ensures that our stakeholders are always informed and can trust in our integrity.

Transparency is not just a policy but a practice embedded in every aspect of our operations. We believe that being open and honest in our communications builds trust and fosters stronger relationships with our partners and the communities we serve. By providing complete information about our initiatives, decisions, and their impacts, we aim to create an environment of accountability and mutual respect.

This transparency extends to our financial practices, project updates, and overall organizational performance, ensuring that all stakeholders have a clear understanding of our work and its outcomes.

Respect

We value and consider ourselves integral actors in the communities in which we operate, deeply respecting all human groups that inhabit them. Recognizing that diversity is an opportunity for sustainable development, we strive to honor and embrace the unique contributions of each individual and group.

Respect is the cornerstone of our interactions, reflecting our commitment to valuing every person’s dignity and perspective. We actively listen to the voices of the communities we engage with, ensuring their needs and aspirations are at the forefront of our efforts.

This respect for diversity drives our inclusive approach, enabling us to harness a wide range of insights and experiences to foster sustainable and equitable development. By appreciating and honoring the cultural, social, and individual differences within the communities, we aim to create environments where everyone feels valued and empowered.

Equity

We are convinced that inclusive treatment improves relations between the organization and its stakeholders. We are firmly committed to providing opportunities to all human groups we interact with, without discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, beliefs, or any other condition.

Equity underpins our mission to create fair and just opportunities for all. We actively work to eliminate barriers that prevent equal access to resources, education, and support. Our initiatives are designed to address systemic inequalities and promote inclusion, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has the chance to thrive. This commitment to equity is reflected in our policies, programs, and partnerships, as we strive to create a more just and balanced society.

We believe that fostering an equitable environment not only benefits individuals but also strengthens communities and enhances collective well-being.
